Why an independent boutique?
The upheaval in the capital markets in 2008 and the near collapse of the Western World’s financial system altered the landscape for businesses needing to source growth capital. Commercial banks are less willing to extend credit and even where they continue to do so they have become more conservative both in pricing and the amount they are prepared to lend.
At the same time, the retrenchment in investment banking has meant that most bankers are only willing or able to focus on larger, more profitable customers.
Nevertheless, institutional investors still have an appetite for well-structured, properly priced risk. Those investors need to manage their time and resources and only really engage with counterparts who properly understand their investment criteria and have a track record in executing transactions.
Peak with its founders’ experience and connections is well placed to source capital for companies orphaned by the financial crisis.
